A neon pizza sign flickered above the restaurant. I smirked at the one pepperoni in the sign that kept blinking in and out. The buzz of the lights made my ears itch even when I stepped inside. A very sleepy clerk reclined in one of the red plastic booths. A stack of books was spread before him on the table. His apron was stained with tomato sauce and flour. A streak of white lined his nose, and a few strands of hair stuck out from under his cap. The place smelled of grease and burnt bread. I could go for a pie with linguisa and hot peppers right about now.

When the bell rang on the door, the heavy-eyed server roused himself. I looked over to the mirrors on the wall and noticed my reflection. I could have passed for one of the numerous college students strolling the streets. He walked behind the counter and straightened his apron while I perused the menu.

“Can I help you?”

Grease was caked onto the Formica counter I rested my arms on. It might be clean to them, but the sheen and the slick on my fingers remained. I gave him a wide smile. “Large pizza with linguisa, hot peppers, and extra cheese. Oh, bacon too.”

He rang up my order. I paid and then waited in an empty booth. The minutes ticked by while he banged the dough in the back. After a few moments, the aroma of freshly baked bread filled the small space. My mouth watered. I could also go for a pint or two of his blood. No one else was around, and no other heartbeats echoed in the back. Why not? A girl’s gotta eat.

I got up and locked the door. I flipped the sign to closed and then waltzed into the kitchen. I stayed by the oven, feeling its heat warm my cold flesh. The clerk slid my pizza onto the conveyor belt for it to start cooking. He wiped his hands against his apron and stopped when he saw me.

“You can’t be back here.”

I put my hand on my hip and pushed out my chest. His eyes strayed to my breasts. “I hope you don’t mind, but I was getting awfully hungry and thought maybe—”

“Your pizza will be done in a few minutes.”

I bit my lip and began twirling my hair around my finger. He wasn’t falling for the bait. “I know, but I was thinking . . . maybe you could help me out.” The aroma of the cooking pizza assailed my senses. It raised my hunger for blood, too. The clerk stayed planted to his spot. Inching closer, I gave him my most innocent smile. This time, I placed my hand on his chest and felt the steady beat of his heart. The other rested lightly on his neck. His flesh burned from the warmth of the oven. I trailed my fingertip over his face, feeling the slight stubble, and then over his lips. He swallowed, finally getting the hint I desired something more than pizza. Never before had he thought some hot chick would come on to him in while he was working.

“Wow. I-I’ve never done it in the kitchen. You sure—” He placed his hands on my hips. Through the light contact, I felt him shaking.

I put a finger to his lips. “Shh. There’s nothing to worry about. You let me do all the work.” I squeezed his hardening dick through his jeans. His anxious gaze searched mine. I didn’t break the eye contact when I sank to my knees. He unzipped his jeans and slid his boxers down. He was semi-hard, but when I began kissing the inside of his thigh and grabbed his ass to keep him steady, his dick hardened all the way. A moan escaped his lips.

“Oh, baby.”

My lips slid over his inner thigh, finding the spot above his femoral artery. His hands gripped my shoulders hard. My teeth shifted. The smell of the pizza mixed with the copper scent of the blood flowing underneath his flesh. My stomach gurgled. The darkness inside threatened to overtake me, but I pushed it back and pierced his vein.

Husbands and what they can do

Husbands.

What are they good for sometimes?

Of course there is the general answer of companionship. Working around the house.
Cracking the whip and making them do things around the house for you especially when you're sick. They can lift heavy things or help around the house.

However, the time that you want to kill them is when they get you sick.
Oh the times that they get you sick no matter how much you try to stay healthy.

Thank you husbands everywhere that get their wives sick.

Oh for the many times that we women could wish the woes that we have onto them. All because they get you sick.

Crazy past few days!

Life has been crazy these past few days.

I've been a role writing and editing. I finished edits for Carrion Comfort coming soon from Amira Press.
Last night at 12:30 A.M., I finished Frost Fever: A Raven Saga Book 5.

My day job has been very busy so even having a chance to think has been few and far between. While I've been balancing this, hubby and I have been out shopping for phones.

I upgrade to a Blackberry and hubby got one too which is amazing because he is not technically inclined. So I've been showing him the ins and outs of the gadgets and he's getting it. I think now he is really addicted. I know I am loving it.

This past week, I also got some exciting news. I now have a new contract with Aspen Mountain Press for Storm Riders, the first in my Rider series. I am very happy about this. I have four books planned in the series. Book two is done, called Smoke Jumpers. Here is the Blurb for Storm Riders:

Wyatt and Landon are Storm Riders assigned to wrangle cyclones. When they both meet George, they’re driven to possess her even offering themselves to her for a wild, stormy night of passion.  When their boss, Raul gets wind of this, he demands they cease all contact. Neither Wyatt nor Landon can stand to think she won’t be part of their lives.  She’s turned their worlds upside down and each craves George’s touch.

Will Landon and Wyatt get to keep her? Or will Raul separate them forever?
Today was spent getting the puppies a bath and shopping while they were gone. We had to get a lot of stuff today which is great to knock off the list that we have had growing for awhile. Updated my website today. Now I have to edit Frost Fever, and work on something else. I swear the list that I have to work on keeps on growing which is awesome.

Well hope you all have a good night. I'm off to take care of hubby. He's not feeling well. Poor man!

Excerpt:

The blades of grass crunched under my feet from the frost on them. Heat waves from an aura blazed against my back. The smell of the thief, unwashed, too much cologne, and greasy hair came to my nose along with steel and gunpowder. His heartbeat doubled the closer he got to me. He thought he could sneak up on me and get my wallet. Maybe a little bit more. The would-be robber’s aura shifted while he made up his mind if he wanted to use his gun or his hands. The scent of his desire spurred my hunger. My teeth shifted. An overwhelming desire to show him my true form over took me, but I held that in check. I was not a monster and wouldn’t lose my humanity to the beast. I opened my mind to the killer so I would hear his thoughts better.
Gotta have something. I need it bad. Oh yeah, this bitch is gonna be sweet. I’ll get her money, do her, and then I can get some more rock. Maybe I should shoot her and then fuck her. Turn around, bitch! Turn around. I want to see your face when you stare down the barrel of my gun. That’s right. All I need is one more hit and I can get through tomorrow.
This guy was so dead. His gun wouldn’t do anything to me and I’d make Swiss Cheese of his brain in five seconds flat once he gazed into my eyes. Ten seconds if my thoughts pushed into his brain. I ran my tongue over my teeth willing them in for now.
“Hey, bitch!” He cocked the gun. His excitement blanketed him. It made me giddy. If he only knew what he was getting himself involved with. I turned slowly playing the sweet and innocent part. After all, I was a woman out on my own in the middle of the night. Women were helpless at least that was the age-old adage. One I had used to my advantage over the years. I tried to appear shocked and scared. His gun glinted in the moonlight.
“Please don’t hurt me,” I whimpered. He enjoyed my fear.
“Give me your wallet.”
“Sorry. I don’t have one.” I stepped forward. Confusion crossed his mind before it hit his face.
“Give me whatever you have then. Come on. Fuck. Hurry up.” He motioned with his free hand.
I smiled. He was so mine. This time I didn’t care if I dropped a body and left it for the cops to find. He was pissing me off and I was hungry again. I looked him up from his feet, ragged and holey shoes, torn jeans that had seen one too many park benches, a dirt, sweat stained shirt, and slowly worked up over his scraggly beard. The wrinkles around his eyes were a roadmap of his life. He wasn’t very old but he’d seen one too many sleepless nights hooked on crack and whatever drugs he could get his hands on. His eyes were dreary gray, the color of the Northern sea by my old home in England. Once my gaze met his all of his willpower drained away.
“Put the gun down, Larry.” I gleaned his name from his thoughts. The weapon in his hand wavered. “You don’t want to hurt me. You know I have nothing for you. Don’t you?”
“Yes.”
His eyes widened. I licked my lips. I used more of my mental whammy on him then I had on the pizza guy. I had to be more careful with this guy. His heart rate dropped. I stepped closer. He didn’t move. His gun hung limply at his side.
“Good boy. Now come to me.”
He stepped forward again. Before he came into my arms, he was tackled and thrown to the ground. Our connection snapped. I snarled. There went my meal. My would-be attacker was wrestling with someone. I’d been so caught up in my prey I hadn’t sensed anyone else around. I started to mold the shadows around me, but if I disappeared it would confuse my hero. Is every girl helpless at three in the morning?
“I said shut up!” My hero chocked the gunman who was out cold. The man stood up towering over me. I came up to mid-chest if I was lucky. He was tan, square jawed, and had deep intense eyes. They held a lot, but I didn’t try and read him. It was hard enough to play nice and mortal while not wanting to tear out his throat, but I could easily throw him down and fuck him for a few rounds. We’ll see how well he can be thrown around by little old me. Maybe he’ll even enjoy it.
“Miss, are you okay?” His gaze searched my face.
I nodded trying to act frightened that someone had assaulted me. “Yes. Thank you. Oh my God! He was going to kill me.” I stared wide-eyed into my hero’s face. His big smile softened his features.
“Well, he won’t be hurting you now. What were you doing out here all by yourself? It’s dangerous for a woman to be alone in the Common at this hour. You’re not from here are you?”
I glanced at the man on the ground. The bouquet of his blood filled my nose. My mouth watered. So much going to waist. “I’m from New York. I haven’t been to Boston in ages.”
“Are you staying with anyone? Can I walk you to your hotel?”
Oh great. This is all I need a real chivalrous man. “Thank you for your concern and all, but I’ll be fine really.”
“You don’t have a place to stay, do you?”
I opened my mouth and then shut it. Tobias would let me in. I knew that. Besides I didn’t have to sleep when the sun was up. It would sap my strength, but I’d be okay. I shrugged. I hung my head. “No. My friends aren’t home and I don’t have a key. I have no clue when they’ll be back.”
He looked around weighing his options. He didn’t want to leave me out here alone and stranded. I didn’t have to look into the future to know what he would say next. “Well…I have a spare room. You can stay the night. No strings of course.”
Of course.
