Guest Post: Hellsong by Alexandra Christian

Today let's please welcome Alexandra Christian to the blog. She has a hot...and I mean sizzling...new release out called Hellsong. Go and check it out.

Blurb:
Theo is a child of the storm, found wandering after the hurricane that devastated New Orleans, with no memory of her past. She’s made a quiet, contented existence for herself. But all that changes when two very different but equally compelling men come into her life.

Dantalion and Saraqael both want her body, and her soul. But there’s a much greater prize at stake. If she chooses right, she’ll find Heaven in the arms of an angel. If she chooses wrong, all Hell will be let loose on Earth.

A Romantica® horror erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave

Excerpt:

The heavy clunk of her boots on the sidewalk marked off each step toward her car. The sound seemed to reverberate on the brick walls all around. The streetlamp beside her car flickered and she had to shield her eyes to see as she approached. She finally reached the car and began attempting to unlock the door. She felt around with her fingertips, seeking out the tiny keyhole. By now the rain was coming down in sheets and that, coupled with the flickering streetlight, wasn’t helping her progress much. “Damn it,” she cursed, shoving the key at the door and missing the hole completely. She gasped and dropped her keys as lightning struck mere feet away from her, taking out the already ailing streetlamp. “Fuck, fuck, fuck…” she shrieked, nearly in tears. She fell to her knees, feeling around on the soaking wet street to find the key ring.

A car whizzed past behind her back, close enough to make her jacket rustle with the tailwind. When lightning flashed again, she saw a glimmer of metal under the car. If she got down on her belly she could just reach it. She groaned with the strain of her muscles as she stretched her hand toward the keys. She started to panic a little, hearing a heavy footfall behind her. The heels dragged along the gravel and stopped right behind her foot. She closed her eyes and took a couple of deep breaths, trying to muster up the courage to sit up and face what knew must be a psycho killer.

“Do you need some help?” The voice was soft, tinged with an accent Theo couldn’t place. She sat up, staring up at this new person. She couldn’t see his face save for the lines and shadows illuminated by the erratic lightning flashes.

“I dropped my keys,” she whimpered, knowing that she probably shouldn’t tell this stranger anything about herself. “They slid under the car.”

“Slide back, then,” he replied. She obeyed and watched as he squatted down gracefully and easily plucked the keys from their resting place under the car. “Are these what you’re looking for?” The keys dangled from his sinewy fingertips in front of her face. In that moment, the streetlamp flickered to life again and poured a fluorescent glow over them both. She was struck by the electricity of his eyes. They were like blue flames staring down at her. His hair and skin were so pale she could hardly believe he was real. Perhaps it was a trick of the light, but for a moment she was sure that his skin was glowing silver. He offered his other hand and she took it, allowing him to pull her to her feet.

“Thank you,” she stammered, her teeth chattering in the frigid air. While sitting on the ground, she had become soaking wet, the dampness chilling her to the bone. She reached out to take the keys and her fingers brushed his. His hands were so warm. She had a sudden feeling that she’d like to press her body against his, absorb his warmth. He seemed to read her mind and looked down, smirking. “I’m not sure how I would have gotten them if you hadn’t come along.”

“Well, you should be careful. Not everyone lurking about is as nice as I am.” He smiled again, making Theo’s heart race. “Now be a good girl and get into your car. I want to see that you’re safe before I go.”

About Alexandra:
My name is Alexandra Christian, or Lexxx if you like (yes, those three Xs are on purpose). I'm an author of mostly paranormal erotic romance and horror. In case you don't know what that means, I write about not-so-nice girls getting it on with out-of-this-world heroes. Vampires, werewolves, selkies, angels and demons—and that's just recently! My first novel was published two years ago and ever since, I've been working my sweet Southern ass off to churn out as much sin and debauchery as I can.

A while ago, I christened myself The Southern Belle from Hell and I think it's a title that suits me well. I live in a small town in South Carolina—the same town I've lived in my entire life. The rich Southern culture, fried foods and a healthy dose of superstition have colored my personality and my writing style. I have an extremely tolerant husband who is the epitome of the Southern male with his buttery-thick accent, laid-back swagger and simple sweetness that makes women of all ages swoon. Of course, how we ended up together is a miraculous wonder. I'm a closeted Goth and when we go out, he looks like my chaperon, but it works! We’re kind of a Herman and Lily Munster in our neighborhood and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’ve published several novels, novellas and short stories so far and look forward to sharing my twisted view of reality with the masses through erotic paranormal romance and horror. I aspire to one day be a bestselling author and part-time pinup girl. Questions, comments and complaints are most welcome.

Catching up on everything...

So what month is it now?

Right...it's November. We've already had the giving out candy month.

Now we're in the month to stuff the turkey.

Then comes the one with the big dude in red and candy canes. At least I think I'm on the right track. See this is what happens when the day job takes over, combined with our new puppy, Briar, and oh yeah, writing. Sometimes the world just seems to pass us by and we forget about all other things.

So this is just a little bit of what's been going on.

The puppy has been keeping us busy as we've had her now for two and a half months. She was very skittish when we first rescued her from the pound. She's six and a half months old right now and has bonded with our Border Collie/Lab Mix, Cadence. Morrigaine, our lab who is nine tolerates her. Now with the pack in the house, it makes for an interesting day and little time to write, but I do make the time.

On to the writing.

Let's see...I've had one publisher close after eight years so I got a few books back from them. Another publisher has contacted two books in an angel series I'm writing about fallen angels.

With a co-author, I've finished a book about dragons that could turn into a series. It just all depends on how much time we have between projects and our lives cause you know, it's not like we're at all busy.

Up until now, I have just finished my first contemporary novel with no paranormal creatures of events in it. I just wanted to see if I could do something different. The title right now is called Lube It Up. I know what you're thinking...but it's not what you think.

Besides that, I am currently working on the third book in the Fur World series to go along with Three Fur All, Passion Fur Three, and bringing in characters from A Cat For All into the mix as well. So that should be fun. No idea on when that will be done because I'm also writing two other books and editing two more as the time permits.

I'm branching out and heading back into my roots which is writing horror. So I'm writing a grim reaper series and am on the third in the series. I started researching and began the work of writing a novel that will spawn a series based on an undertaker and the bodies that show up at her work. And have another series planned about hunters of the supernatural. This one has been outlined, but I haven't started writing it yet.

Hopefully these will all go well and the two books will be done by the end of the year.

Plans for 2014?

Haven't gotten that far yet.

I'll let you know in June...maybe.

Sex, Death, Cowboys, Vampires & Bigfoot

I'm sure you're scratching your head wondering how Bigfoot fits into the list above.

Well, these are only some of the subjects that I write about. Over the last seven years working with various publishers, and amassing more titles than I can count, I've come to realize that I love writing. I guess that would be obvious. Sinking into all the different realities I've created and the ones who linger still in my brain has kept me sane when dealing with the stress in my life. I'm guess that is the way with most writers.

In all this time, I've written books based on current selling trends and I've written the ones that I want to read as well. I have some that I even go back and re-read because those characters have gotten underneath my skin.

I've created cowboys and they were fun. Shifters are always great to do. I favor writing about shifters turning into ravens or dragons. Wolves are popular and so are cats so sometimes they take over my brain and become the center of a story. Vampires are dear to my heart for reasons very few people know and I try to create each one a little different than the last and it doesn't matter to me what the trends do, I'm going to write them anyway.

Through all my books, my favorite character is Azrael, my Angel of Death. He's more than grim reaper, he's also...well I'm not going to give away his story but you can read about it in Masquerade, Soul Reaper, Angelic Cravings, and Falling. But he has become more than just a character in my books, he has become a muse of sorts and demands to be put into as many plot lines as he can find his way into. Right now he pops up in over twenty at this point, lending a hand to those characters who need it.

With him being my most written character, there are others who some people ask where in the world did you get an idea for that say writing about Bigfoot and a green shape shifting alien in Hairy & Hung or a were-gingerbread woman in Ginger Bites. Bigfoot and the alien was concocted out of a conversation at a Halloween party at how you would have Bigfoot get it on with some thing. So I went with the idea of an alien too because I don't write much sci-fi stuff and poof.  The were gingerbread was an idea that popped into my mind after watching a horror movie with a gingerbread killing everyone so why not combine it with a werewolf story for Christmas and see what I get. Sure it's silly, but we all love Christmas miracles. These are the books that are fun to write because they are a little far fetched and show off my dry wit...Hahaha. But you can't take these books so seriously all the time because hell I certainty don't. I understand people might not get them, but they are awesome to create.

And of course there is sex in the books. What is erotic romance without sex?

So if you like quirky, can stand hunky vampires, or an accident prone witch who falls in love with a Celtic god, peppered with supernatural menages then you and I will get along just fine.

Thanks for reading and enjoy!
